The spas consist of pools of thermal water, sulfur baths in the sea water, pits to make hot mud and fumaroles for inhalations. Natural mud is considered an ideal treatment for the muscles and for a number of skin diseases and despite the strong odor, splashing in the sulphurous mud at 28 ° C is a very pleasant experience, as well as a boon for the respiratory tract.
Per entrare alle terme vi è un contributo minimo di 5 euro, una cifra irrisoria per poter godere delle bellezze e dei benefici naturali del luogo. Le terme sono costituite da pozze di acqua termale, bagni sulfurei nell’acqua di mare, fosse per fare fanghi caldi e fumarole per le inalazioni. Il fango naturale viene considerato un trattamento ideale per i muscoli e per un numero di malattie della pelle e nonostante il forte odore, sguazzare nel fango sulfureo a 28° C è un’esperienza molto piacevole, oltre che una manna per le vie respiratorie.

A Palermo Sant’Onofrio ha il titolo di patrono secondario e nel 1568 gli fu dedicata una chiesetta, in Via Panneria
Sant’Onofrio tutt’ora viene pregato perché ha il potere di far trovare marito alle zitelle!. Ogni sera, per nove giorni di seguito, si doveva recitare tra una preghiera e l’altra una filastrocca fatta apposta per chiedere la grazia a Sant’Onofrio. Mentre si recitava la filastrocca si doveva mettere una monetine da due centesimi nella serratura di una porta qualsiasi. Se fosse caduta la richiesta era esaudita!

ha pinne pettorali sviluppate ed è in grado di assorbire l’ossigeno atmosferico poiché la parte anteriore del tubo digerente è assai vascolarizzata.
Grazie a questa facoltà e all’uso delle pinne pettorali, il Tamoatà riesce addirittura ad attraversare tratti di terreno asciutto per spostarsi tra
l’acqua di mare e quella dolce.”
